Chapter 3

Audrey awakened, panicked, drenched in sweat. “Where am I?” Her head pounded. The room was lit by candles with the most intoxicating scent of lavender. She took deep breaths, looking around. She was in a bedroom on a plush mattress, bigger than a California king. There was a bountiful bouquet of Alaria next to her on the nightstand. A calm feeling swept over her until she looked down and saw she was naked.

Her eyes widened as she wondered if anything had happened to her. Next to the flowers, there was orange juice, a banana, and muffins. Her stomach growled. “I’m not eating that. I don’t know where it came from,” she said under her breath. She thought for a moment. “I guess if someone wanted to kill me, I’d be dead.” She grabbed a muffin, sniffed it, and determined it was okay to eat. “Ummm.” It was still warm and moist, and the tart taste of regal berries burst onto her tongue. She grabbed another.

The last thing she remembered was a bear and the sexy man from the woods. She touched her shoulder where she’d been scratched. The terror she felt came flooding back.

“Your scars have healed.”

Audrey jumped and attempted to cover herself. Darius stood in the doorway in a t-shirt and blue jeans. His voice was just as deep and smooth as she remembered. His face was just as handsome as she remembered. That shirt did nothing to hide his bulging biceps and his muscular abs.

“I covered them with an ointment I made out of Ona.”

“What’s Ona?” Audrey asked.

“The flowers you’ve been stealing from me. I think you call them Alaria.” Darius said.

“I didn’t know what they were called, and I don’t steal.”

“What would you call it?”

“Picking flowers.”

“Those flowers belong to me, and I didn’t give you permission to pick them.”

“Who are you?” Audrey asked.

“My name is Darius Huntington.”

“That’s it.”

“What’s it?” Darius asked.

“Is that all you have to say for yourself? You yelled at me. You threatened me. Most importantly, you fought a bear. You have nothing to say about that?”

“You must be mistaken.”

“I know what I saw,” Audrey said.

“You were hit pretty badly. You probably saw all sorts of things. Things you shouldn’t repeat. You can sort it out once you feel better.”

“I feel fine. A bear attacked me and a wolf killed the bear. That wolf turned into you right before my eyes. I’m sure of it.”

“That sounds like a dream you may have had while you were sleeping. I found you passed out in my flower bed,” Darius said.

“I won’t tell anyone.”

That caught his attention, but he said nothing.

“How can I thank you if you won’t tell me the truth?” Audrey asked.

“Audrey, maybe you should lie down.”

“How do you know my name?” Audrey asked.

Darius stared.

“You called me Audrey the first time we met. How do you know my name?”

“I tracked you down after I found you stealing so I’d know who to send the police after.”

“In three months, you never called the police, yet this is the second time you threatened to do so. Why is that?”

Darius was quiet.

“Please just talk to me,” Audrey said. “Whatever it is, I can handle it. I know you’re trying to intimidate me, but I’m not afraid of you, Darius.”

“Breakfast sounds good.”

Audrey was intrigued by Darius. There was more to him than his grumpy exterior. He was harmless as far as she was concerned, and his threats were purely for show. She thought it was cute.

“Where am I?” Audrey asked.

He said nothing.

“If you don’t tell me where I am, I’ll assume you kidnapped me.”

“You’re free to go whenever you’re ready.”

“And my clothes?” she asked.

“They were soiled so I washed them for you.”

“You undressed me?” she asked.

“I removed your clothes.”

“Did you touch me?”

“No.”

“Am I in your bed, Darius?” she asked.

His reply was a single nod.

Audrey couldn’t take her eyes off the bulge in Darius’s pants. Her nerves were already on edge. Her mouth watered. Her aching pussy dripped with need. His boyishly handsome face coupled with his muscular frame and his stern expression made her wish she could pull down his pants and jump on his dick.

Darius fought the urge to pounce, but every movement she made, every word from her full lips, the heat that radiated from her body, propelled his desire to take her, mate her, and claim her over and over again.

Audrey ran her hands across the sheets. The blanket fell, exposing her abundant breasts. Her nipples stood at attention. She took her time covering herself.

Darius cleared his throat. “How are you feeling? Any pain?”

Audrey thought for a moment and pressed her hand against her ribcage. “Ahhh,” she winced. “Actually there’s a sharp pain right here.”

Without thinking Darius rushed to her side. He placed his hand on top of hers and the other on her bare flesh. Her skin was soft and supple, waiting to be bitten and marked.

“Where?” Darius asked, gently inspecting her. When she didn’t reply Darius looked into her eyes for answers. They stared at one another as heat rose between them.

Audrey’s heart skipped a beat. “There’s something about the way you look at me,” Audrey said.

Darius gulped. “Are you hurt, Audrey?”

“I have this ache, deep inside. I don’t know if you’ll be able to heal it, or maybe you’re the only one who can.”

Silence again.

Audrey blushed. “Maybe I was wrong.”

“About what?”

“It feels like there’s something between us.”

She waited for Darius to reply, but once again, he was silent. She leaned in, her lips only centimeters from his. Her eyes closed for a brief moment before she lost hope.

Darius sat still, seemingly unaffected.

“I guess it’s all in my head.” Audrey turned her head away from Darius.

“Look at me,” Darius commanded.

Audrey couldn’t bring herself to turn around. She could feel the heat on her cheeks. “It’s fine. If you could just get my clothes I can eat at home.”

“Look at me,” Darius said again.

“I’d rather not. You can just leave my clothes outside the door, and I’ll get them. I can leave without bothering you, and you’ll never see me again.”

“I said look at me. Don’t make me tell you again.”

Audrey took her time turning around. “What?”

Darius said nothing, once again.

Audrey sighed, frustrated with Darius’s silence. “I misspoke. I didn’t mean that.”

“What did you mean?” he asked.

“Nothing.”

“I see.” Darius touched Audrey’s cheek.

His wolf growled.

Audrey jumped. Her eyes widened.

“Darius, I’m sorry. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”

“There’s nothing wrong with you, Audrey. You’re perfect.”

“You mean perfect for a thief?”

“You’re funny for a thief and also for liar. I suspect you’re not in pain.”

“No pain, but I admire the way you came to my rescue once again.”

“I feel terrible. You did get hurt on my property. I wanted to make sure you’re okay.”

She wasn’t in pain, but she did have an ache for Darius. She couldn’t help but look between his legs. His dick jumped.

“You’re resisting.”

“I have no idea what you mean,” he said.

“Now who’s the liar.”

“You’re playing with fire, Audrey.”

“Maybe I want to get burned.”

“I should let you rest. I charged your phone in case there was someone you wanted to call.”

“What exactly would I tell them?”

“I don’t know. Maybe your man is out there wondering where you are.”

“I don’t have a man. It’s been a long time since I’ve been with a man.”

“Why is that?”

“I don’t know. Is there anyone special in your life? Is there a woman of the house?”

“It’s been a long time since I’ve met anyone as special or as beautiful as you.”

“You think I’m beautiful?”

“You’re perfect.”

“Even with my hair like this?” Audrey hadn’t seen her hair, but she knew it had to be all over her head.

“Especially with your hair like this,” Darius said.

“Careful or I’ll get the wrong idea.”

“Maybe you’re right.”

“I feel this desire so intense, that I can’t fight it. I don’t know if I want to fight it. All I want right now is for you to touch me.”

“I have to go.” Darius stood to walk away.

Audrey touched his hand. An electric pulse flowed through her body and his.

Darius clenched her hand. “I’ve been resisting you for three months.”

Audrey stood. “Look at me.”

Darius turned to face her.

“Why?” she asked. “Why have you never said anything? Why have you been watching me?”

“It wouldn’t be a good idea. I’m not an easy man to love.”

“Love?” Her heart skipped a beat. She cupped his cheek in her palm. “I know a broken heart when I see one. You’re going to be okay, Darius.”

“How do you know that?” He looked into her beautiful brown eyes.

She tilted her head toward his. “I’m here now.”

Their lips met in a passionate kiss that neither could any longer resist. Audrey felt comfort as Darius relaxed in her arms. He held her close as if he’d die before he let her go. His strong hands caressed her skin and squeezed her behind. Her moans were music to his ears. Their lips crashed over and over again, neither of them able to break away from the heavenly feeling.

“Oh, Darius,” Audrey cried.

Darius kissed her neck, making a trail to her breasts. His mouth followed his hands as he bit her nipple. Her body jerked with excitement.

He returned to her mouth, pecking slowly and deliberately. Audrey shivered from the lingering sensations his lips left behind.

“Darius,” she whispered.

“Yes, love.”

“Why can’t I stop kissing you?”

“You never have to stop kissing me.”

“Promise.”

Darius lowered Audrey onto the bed, hovering over her body as she pulled him closer. He worked his way down her body, nibbling and tasting her skin. He spread her legs and lifted them over his shoulders as he dove into her center.

His tongue moved rhythmically between her lower lips. Audrey relaxed her head on a pillow and squeezed her breasts. Darius teased her with his tongue and invaded her heat with his fingers. She was everything he imagined, tight, warm, sweet, and so wet for him. He couldn’t wait to feel her pussy embrace his dick. He replaced his fingers with his tongue. Audrey pushed his head deeper as her hips lifted up and down. Her moans turned to screams, and a tear escaped her eye as pleasure coursed from Darius’s tongue through ever inch of her body over and over again. He devoured her, determined to taste all her body had to give.

Darius kissed her lips as they both hurried to rid him of his clothes. His body was perfectly sculpted and his dick was magnificent. He straddled her as she sat up in the bed.

Audrey was nervous as she took him in her palm.

“Don’t be nervous,” Darius said. “Touch it. Explore it.”

Audrey was hesitant, but she moved her hand up and down his shaft.

Darius growled. That only fueled her desire. She got excited, feeling his skin move against his hardness.

Darius looked into her eyes as he lowered her onto the bed and hovered over her body.

“Would you believe me if I told you your body was made for me?”

“I’d believe anything you said right now.”

“Don’t be afraid. You’re a perfect fit,” he whispered.

Audrey nodded.

Her essence poured like a flood while Darius rubbed the tip of his dick against her opening.

“You’re so fucking wet,” he said. His body tingled as he slightly breached her entrance.

“Oh,” she whined as she spread her legs wider and lifted her hips. The tip only increased her aching desire to be filled.

Darius pulled out and rubbed the head between her lips, lapping her juices, his arousal heightened by the slurping sound. He returned to her center, pushing slightly deeper. Audrey grabbed his sides and lifted her hips off the bed, and Darius pulled out again. He repeated the action again and again. Each time Audrey gripped him tighter with her nails and with her pussy.

“Darius,” she cried.

“Yes, Audrey?”

“Please,” she begged.

“What’s that Audrey?”

“Please,” she pleaded.

“What is it that you need, love?”

“I need you please. Fuck me, please.”

“I’m not going to fuck you.”

Audrey’s eyes widened.

“I’m going to claim your pussy. Would you like that?”

“Yes,” she moaned.

“Don’t say it if you don’t mean it.”

“I mean it.”

He entered her in one swift motion, penetrating her body deeper than any man ever had or could. She cried out as she reached for his head. She kissed his lips and pulled him closer.

His thrusts were slow and steady. The pleasure was agonizing. Darius could’ve never been prepared for this feeling of ecstasy.

“Shit, Audrey, you’re going to be mine. Do you want to be mine?” he asked.

Audrey nodded.

“I can’t hear you,” he said.

“Yes, whatever you want,” she cried.

He kissed her lips as he pumped harder and faster, Audrey yelled with every thrust.

“I knew you were perfect for me,” he said. He slowed down and kissed her neck as Audrey struggled to catch her breath. “You were right, Audrey. I’m a wolf, and you belong to me. I need you in so many ways, love. I need you more than you know. I’d like you to do something for me.”

“Anything,” she said.

“Agree to be my mate. Can you do that?” He thrusted harder.

“Yes, Darius, yes.” Audrey had never felt so good. Darius knew exactly where to touch her, exactly where to position himself, exactly what her body needed and when. Audrey was in heaven, and as far as she was concerned he could take whatever he wanted from her. He could claim her. He could have her body. She was his.

The wolf was excited to finally claim Audrey after watching her for months.

With a kiss, Darius lifted his body from hers. “Turn over,” he commanded.

It took Audrey a moment to comply, but she rose to her hands and knees as Darius positioned himself behind her and pushed her head down. He entered her from the back without warning and closed his eyes, resting in her warmth.

“Shit,” Audrey cried.

Darius growled. Audrey had no idea the built up tension he was about to unleash on her. He held on to her hips and pounded her relentlessly as she cried out, begging for more, and he was happy to oblige. He sank his claw into her thigh and dug into her skin, marking her, causing her to burst with pleasure. He slowly kissed his way up her spine as she trembled beneath him. “I’m close. I know you are too,” he whispered in her ear. “Come on this dick so I can mate you.”

With that, Audrey came. What she felt could only be described as ecstasy, something she’d never felt before Darius. She lifted her body as they molded into one, their skin never breaking contact.

Darius squeezed her breasts as he came. He groaned as he erupted into Audrey and sank his teeth into her neck. They saw sparks and the room spun as they caved in pleasure with Audrey wrapped in his arms.

When Darius awakened, Audrey was still sound asleep. He sniffed her. She now wore his scent. Wherever she went, she’d carry him with her. The connection he felt to her was powerful. Even in her sleep, he could feel her happiness. He kissed her cheek and squeezed her tight. Audrey was now his mate, and the pleasure and guilt he felt were equally immense.

There were so many things he should’ve said and done prior to this moment, but he couldn’t resist Audrey any longer. He could only hope that she would forgive him, and that his alpha brothers would forgive him as well.
